New licensing period announcement

The 1st Licensing Period for 2009 commences on May 1, 2009. All persons involved in the wholesale, retail, transport and/or storage of Petroleum and Petroleum Products (Gasoline, Diesel, Kerosene, Bitumen, LPG, Lubricants, etc) holding licences issued by the GEA expiring on 30th April, 2009 or who do not currently hold licences from the GEA, please be informed that the GEA Licensing Division is in the process of accepting renewal applications and new applications for licences.

To ensure the rational and efficient use of imported petroleum-based energy sources, while encouraging, where economically feasible and environmentally acceptable, increased utilization of indigenous new and renewable sources of energy.

The following is an overview of the functional Divisions of the Agency and their roles in achieving the mission of the Agency. The mandate of the Agency is executed in the following functional areas:

  • Non-Conventional Energy Management;
  • Administering and monitoring petroleum imports;
  • Maintenance of energy statistics;
  • Marking and testing of gasoline, diesel and kerosene imported; and
  • Issuing of licences to importers, wholesalers, retailers and transporters of petroleum and petroleum products.
